About Us

Welcome!

I am Louise! I am a teacher in the Scottish Borders and sole owner and creator of Little Puffin Children's Clothing. I have always been crafty and creative. From learning knitting with my Granny, admiring my Grandma’s quilting and always teaching myself new handicrafts such as origami, cross stitch, watercolour painting and calligraphy. I started to sew on a machine properly when my son was born nearly 5 years ago! Inspired by a friend making garments for her children and also from the Great British Sewing Bee, I borrowed my mother-in-law’s sewing machine to try my hand at making a romper for my little boy. Using some of my old clothes and a pattern downloaded from the internet, I transformed an old top into the cutest little outfit. And from there it grew!

I have been sewing constantly since then, trying new patterns for myself and my little one and slowly acquiring a small mountain of fabric! Even transforming my attic into a sewing studio for me to escape to! Last October, a friend put me in touch with SOSE and helped me put an application together for a grant to help new businesses. Hence, Little Puffin was born! With their funding, I could make my dream into a reality and sell and share my makes with all of you! So here I am! Running this little business selling bespoke, handmade and beautiful clothing for your little ones. Everything is handmade made to order, with love, care and to the highest quality.
